About

I have been designing and making jewellery for almost 40 years having been classically trained at The Central School of Art and Design.  I worked for many years from my workshop in London before moving to the idyllic Hampshire countryside and setting up there. I find the countryside creates a calm environment for designing and making my work.

It was the combination of designing on paper and both the physicality and technicality of creating something with my hands that first attracted me to becoming a jewellery designer. I draw from the limitless inspiration found in ancient artefacts and classical anaesthetics. i enjoy using traditional and ancient techniques such as forging, stone setting and chain making.  Flowing lines are clean and elegant enhanced by detail .The tactile nature of jewellery means that I think carefully about it’s feel against the skin and its wearability evolving  pieces which are both classic and timeless.

I enjoy working closely with each client to create unique pieces designed especially for them or for a loved one. My clients are encouraged to be involved in the process from a paper drawing to the finished product discussing design options and carefully selecting suitable stones. Attention to small detail is what makes each piece individual. The item is then carefully handmade in the workshop and finished to a high standard which will last for generations to come.

Commissions

The process of commissioning a piece of jewellery usually starts with a phone call or email to discuss the clients wishes. I try to gain as much information as possible before the initial meeting so that I can prepare some ideas. I will then guide the client through the process discussing any gem options and design concepts taking into consideration the clients budget. This might involve re working a sentimental heirloom or starting from scratch. I listen carefully to my clients brief and encourage them to make suggestions so they become involved in the whole process.

Following this I make some initial sketches and source  potential stones where required. These are then discussed with the client making any changes where necessary. Once the final design has been agreed and the stones chosen the piece is carefully made in the workshop and presented to the client in a lovely box.
